The Society for Military History
SMH is devoted to advancing the study of military history. Members include many of the nation’s most prominent military historians and scholars of war and society.
From March 14 – 17, 2013, hundreds of historians interested in military history and war and society will gather in New Orleans to discuss the latest scholarship in the field.

New Orleans is a great city with a profoundly fascinating history and many outstanding attractions.
It is our pleasure to welcome you to the website for the 80th annual meeting of the Society for Military History. In March 2013, hundreds of the leading specialists in the study of societies at war will gather in New Orleans to present their latest work, critique each other’s presentations, and discuss the future of the field.

Please note that detailed aspects of the program, including session times, presenters, and panel/paper topics, will not be available until January 15, 2013.
